Ethan Rublee is Co-Founder and CEO of Space-ng, developing autonomy systems for spacecraft spanning cameras, vision-based navigation and GPU-enabled AI hardware and software. As Vision Navigation Lead for Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1, Rublee and the Space-ng team developed and deployed the real-time vision-based terrain-relative navigation system that enabled the first successful commercial lunar landing in March 2025.
Rublee has over 16 years of experience in robotics and computer vision, with a focus on taking systems from research to deployed products. He is a recipient of the 2021 ICCV Helmholtz Prize for his 2011 work on ORB, a real-time feature detection and description method. A serial entrepreneur, he has founded companies across multiple domains: industrial robotics for material handling and autonomous truck unloading (Industrial Perception, acquired by Google), AI-driven tools for real-time visual effects and mixed reality (Arraiy), and agricultural robotics systems (farm-ng). He is a co-author of Kornia, an open-source differentiable computer vision library.
